There is no teaching.

My personal opinion is that gibberish tongues are fake and that St Paul was talking about the sudden ability to speak real foreign languages that had not been learned and hence the need for interpreters for those who did not understand.

I haven’t seen the word ’ gibberish ’ used in a long time - lol.
I’d rather have Mary - as a source of contention - separating Catholics -
than, say, to belong to a church where they freely speak in tongues.
Imagine, you bring someone to church…so they can check things out…
and the couple sitting next to you starts loudly gibbering away - looking at you !

I also tend to think the “speaking in tongues” thing is BS.

I thought it was Kenny G. playing the clarinet.
Off topic, but that’s not a clarinet. It’s a soprano saxophone.

Thank you for pointing that out, I had no idea such an evil flute existed 😃

this is probably what they are referring to
1 Corinthians 14:27,28
if anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone must interpret. 28But if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God.

Actually, Copeland himself “interprets”, but sometimes he sees his outbursts in tongues as only his spirit talking to God. That happens a lot in Pentecostal / Charismatic circles.

When my nephew was in his first few months of solid food, he would get excited at the sight of a digestive biscuit and gargle the same as Rev’d Copeland above.

Out of the mouths of babes…

he would need an excuse if there is no one there to interpret him!

He’s all about the prosperity Gospel and making himself rich.
Isn’t he the one who once boasted “I bought a jet. Cash. Then I bought another jet. Cash.”
He and his wife have a disturbing ministry. I understand that they encourage sick, desperate people to donate large sums of money to them with the promise that God will bless them with healing and wealth.

My older brother’s " non-denominational " church - did one higher than that -
They believed in laughing in the spirit…
I went there a few times - it was insane - like being in a funny farm - mad ward -
I mean, well dressed people, laughing hysterically, slapping their legs, point at others…
there was some sort of biblical quote that they were using, at the time, obviously out of context…
