Key Protestant beliefs that only occur once in scripture?

It is not infrequent that when the Catholic points of explicit points of the True Christian Faith that a fundamentalist will balk and state “that’s all well and good, but it only occurs in one of the four Gospels, not all of them.”

Q: What strongly-held Protestant practices only occur once in scripture? I am aware that the Trinitarian form of Baptism (“in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” only occurs once in (Matt. 28:19)).

I’ll do better, here are some that don’t occur at all in Scripture.

1. Where in the bible does it say that Scripture alone is the sole rule of Faith?
2. Where in the Bible does it say we are saved by ‘Faith Alone’
3. Where in the Bible does it say that Baptism is a symbolic gesture that the believer makes after being saved?
4. Where in Scripture does it tell us that saying ‘I accept Jesus as the Lord of my life’ will save us?

There are literally hundereds more. Virtually no doctrine, unique to the Protestants, is in the Bible at all.

Although I would normally use the tactic you describe, it doesn’t address the question–that a fundamentalist posits beliefs must occur more than once in scripture in order to be “sufficient.”

Let me put it this way–are there any beliefs held by Protestants that only occur once in scripture? These could be narrow readings that occur once–and Protestants cling to–but do not hold up in scripture as a whole. Alternatively, these beliefs could be in common with the authentic Catholic Christian that occur only once as well.

I dont think there are that many, if any. Not all Protestants even believe in the need for Baptism nor the need for the Trinitarian formula.

Ignatius’ approach is much better.
