Good morning guys, thank you for your answers. Lets proceed to the topic:

That is quite irrelevant to the Christ specifically conveying the power to forgive sins to His Apostles as you now know from Jn 20:21-23.
Why do you masquerade as a “Catholic”?

Please read the full context before quoting it, I said that because I mentioned “The only One Who can forgive sin is the One Who is sinless” 2nd Corinthians declares that Christ was without sin…

Before if you notice I ended by agreeing that the apostle have the power to forgive sins cause we have totally different interpretation regarding it. Since you used Mt 28:18-20 i tell you, Jesus is absolute head of His church in every detail (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:22,23). Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and earth. The things we do and speak must be grounded in His authority. It is upon the basis of Jesus’ authority that right things are right and wrong things are wrong. The gospel is for all (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; Galatians 3:28)
Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem Luke 24:47.

“you are stuck in Jn 20:21-23”

(Mark 16:15; I Corinthians 1:18). It is always our obligation to make sure that what we teach is the gospel of Christ

Our goal is to help turn people into followers of Christ (Matthew 28:19). Discipleship is not for the lukewarm or weak-willed. It is for those with the fortitude to pay the price, even when it means bearing a heavy cross. A disciple is one who follows Jesus. We seek to look at things the way He does; at sin, at others, at God and at His Word, and at ourselves.

“Nowhere did the Christ promise that the Apostolic miracles would be a constant feature” Matthew 10:8

Nowhere did Christ promise that it would be a constant?..I can’t imagine why you used these words where in fact you used Mt 2:18-20 as to have successor and the power to forgive sins like Jesus wherein there’s no CONSTANT FEATURE involve as well.

The Bible does not contradict itself. Our text is similar to Matthew 28:18-20. There is no mention there of confessing sins to a priest. Our Lord said His disciples were to “teach all nations” (“so send I you” – John 20:21) and then they were to baptize their converts.

Our text is similar to Mark 16:15, 16. Christians are to go into all the world preaching the GOSPEL. And again, our Lord mentions that new converts are to be baptized.

There is no mention here of confessing sins to a priest.

Our text is similar to Luke 24:46-49. In Luke 24:47, our Lord mentions “repentance and remission of sins.” But repentance is not the same as penance. Repentance means a change of mind. This leads to a change in direction. The apostle Paul said, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21).

your interpretation of John 20:23 is contradict to Acts 10:25-43

Peter preached to the house of Cornelius, “through His (Jesus’) name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:43). No priestly confession there

"nowhere in the New Testament can you find one case where any of the Apostles ever forgave anyone’s sin. They always pointed their listeners to Jesus Christ. If not one of the Apostles ever made that claim, then those today claiming that power have placed themselves above the Apostles, and equal with Jesus Christ Himself."
- prove me i’m wrong here.

Whenever a Christian (not necessarily a pastor or missionary or an evangelist, etc.) proclaims the Gospel, those who believe in Christ will have their sins forgiven by God.
But those who refuse to believe in Christ will continue in their lost condition, with their sins retained (cf. John 8:24).
We are to continue preaching the same Gospel message that Jesus and the disciples preached. Those who believe it will have their sins forgiven. Those who do not believe will have their sins retained.
This is the context of John 20:19-23.

My friend Only God can forgive sins (cf. Matt. 9:6; Mark 2:5-7).

Please don’t try to use this again “Also, if you lied to me and I forgive your sin, is it not forgiven?” " or “Our father…forgive us our trespasses,: as we forgive those who trespass against us” - This is not what the scripture/topic all about.

And please answer with bible verses, I’m sorry but I wont mind your opinion if its not from the scripture.

@FatherOfTwelve: I will still wait for your answer. And it will be the last.

For those of you in doubt that I’m Catholic. Yes I am, Seeking for the truth.
@Zekariya:
“Are you more wise than the Fathers of the Church? Who has given you the authority to speak against the Church?”

God told me so. Jeremiah 6.16. Who told you not to seek for the truth? your God??? prove it. And I’m not against of the REAL Church. You’re the only one questioned me like that. That makes you what???

To end my statement i’ll share a story:

John Phillips in his commentary on the Gospel of John tells of a woman who had been brought up RC but was gloriously saved and became a strong Christian.
Before she died, she was very sick in the hospital and her RC relatives sent a RC priest over to see her. The priest asked if she wanted him to hear her confession.
The woman said to the priest, “Show me your hands.” The priest extended his hands and the woman examined them. Then she turned to the priest and said, “You are an impostor, sir. The one who forgives my sins has nail prints in his hands” (John 20:20-23).

Thanks a lot to everyone.

We all know that all apostle are disciple but not all disciple are apostle Matthew 28:19 because I myself considered to be a disciple (Follower of Christ)

May God bless us all. Good bye.

Signing off.

If you hold that subsequent to the death of the apostles forgiveness of sins could be obtained by only private interior confession and repentance, then I challenge you to show us a Scripture passage where Jesus explained this power to forgive and retain sin was only temporary – that it would last only as long as the apostles live but after that it would change and be easier! If that is what you believe Jesus set up for His Church, then you have a responsibility to show that procedures He established for the heads of His Church were meant to be only temporary – very temporary when compared to the thousands of years that would subsequently follow.

Paul, who was not one of the original apostles addressed in John 20:23, has this to say:
2 Cor 5:18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the** ministry **of reconciliation;

Reconciliation is the reconciling of man with God thru forgiveness of sins. Jesus obtained the graces of our reconciliation/forgiveness, and thru the priest He bestows those graces on us. Paul, not one of the original 12, subsequently had this ministry bestowed on him.

If you take the time to think about it, you’ll realize that what Jesus set up was a Church – and visible institution - to last to the end of the ages and He appointed the first leaders.
(Eg. If you established a school that you financed so it could last for a millenium, and appointed the first principal and teachers with directives as to their roles, would you expect that after their death there would no longer be any leaders in that school with authority to carry out those roles you determined???)
Hi just one more thing here. Ministry of reconciliation is not giving the authority of forgiveness of sins.

Read the full context here:

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Check the meaning of ministry here:

wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_ministry_mean
A ministry is a religious word that means community service that is done to glorify God or in order to direct others to God for them to be saved.

**“They are pointing to God” **

You’re beyond true meaning of the context.

Note these verses that teach **reconciliation comes through Jesus **- 2Co 5:18; Col 1:19-20a

"For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross."

Again read this:

"nowhere in the New Testament can you find one case where any of the Apostles ever forgave anyone’s sin. They always pointed their listeners to Jesus Christ. If not one of the Apostles ever made that claim, then those today claiming that power have placed themselves above the Apostles, and equal with Jesus Christ Himself."

(Eg. If you established a school that you financed so it could last for a millenium, and appointed the first principal and teachers with directives as to their roles, would you expect that after their death there would no longer be any leaders in that school with authority to carry out those roles you determined???)

Why giving this example? sorry but i laugh. You know why? Because there’s Jesus and He lives forever. We Only need guide. Matthew 28:19
This example is irrelevant.
