I am the original poster from two years ago⌠so, I can now tell you how it turned outâŚ
I hired a good lawyer, and we included language in the agreement that overnights with non-family members of the opposite sex were not allowed. At this point, he had already introduced the boys to his girlfriend, so I couldnât do much about that.
My ex was focusing on finances, and REALLY wanted to avoid a trial, so he (knowing I would fight it otherwise) agreed to it. It all worked out well.
After so much time had gone by, I went back and read several posts, and found it disheartening to see so much negativity about the issue. Several posts essentially said âYou can forget it, itâll never happen, so youâll just have to let it go.â
Iâd like to strongly encourage anyone who feels they need to step up for their children and protect them from misguided notions (at best) to definitely do so to the best of your ability. At least try!!! It might not work, but how will you know if you donât try? And YES! Sometimes it works!
I encountered *several *âissuesâ where I thought our kids were being harmed, or done a disservice. I utilized my lawyer as much as I needed to, and am *very *satisfied with the results. Yes, it was exhaustingâŚand it was expensive (we had several issues to handle) - but the explanation I gave to my ex when he told me he âcouldnât believe I was willing to spend all that moneyâ still stands: âI canât think of a better reason to spend it.â
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions⌠I am grateful for how mine turned out, and would be happy to explain further if it will help someone else.
