I met obnoxious wife killer William Burroughs so I had to see KILL YOUR DARLINGS, an account of a true murder within the Beat Poet clique. It was really well done and XXX rated but certainly shows the continuum from the Roaring 20’s and their privileged drunkies to the Boring 40’s and their privileged junkies. SPOILER ALERT!
Lucien Carr kills the man who has stalked him since age 12. And one can see the profound self-aggrandizing nonsense of this indulgent era, and the foundation of another murder, junkie and drunkie William Burroughs, crack shot, shooting his drunk wife in the forehead. Burroughs was “adopted” by Lawrence, Kansas, home of KU, after going broke, and the adulation continues for these Beatniks. I’m posting this here because it was a perfectly honest movie about getting high and thinking you’re smart, and killing a stalker and it got brutalized by critics and the public alike.
