Killer of Rafiki, Uganda’s rare silverback mountain gorilla, jailed​

The killer of one of Uganda’s best known mountain gorillas, Rafiki, has been jailed for 11 years.

Felix Byamukama pleaded guilty to illegally entering a protected area and killing a gorilla.

Byamukama had said the gorilla attacked him and he killed Rafiki in self defence, according to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

Who isn’t an animal lover?

11 years sounds like a proper sentence to me.

In a manner, it’s a war between park rangers and poachers in some parts of Africa.

I believe I read in a fairly recent article that in Kenya, where so much of the wildlife is, quite a few of the poachers now, will end up dead rather than being arrested.

And I’m very sorry for the Ape, I mean, he’s practically human.

We’ve got something like this animal at a local zoo, huge, noble creature, God Bless Them All.
