King James Version ONLY?

I posted this forum 2 weeks ago in the apologetics forum and just realized that there were specialties to different forums.

A friend of mine has left the church and now says that the King Jamen Version is the ONLY TRUE Word of God and it is 100% accurate and the ONLY perfectly preserved Bible?
Any new opinions?

Translation is a field of study like any other, and it improves with time. The difference between a modern translation and the KJV is 400 years of linguistics, literary study, cultural study and archaeology. There is, after all, a reason why they produced the New King James Version.

In my heretical opinion, perhaps the greatest problem with the KJV is the mere fact that English has changed a lot in the intervening years, and not all of the words have the same meanings now as they did then, which can lend added confusion.

However, this guy has summed it up rather well in a rather non-partisan manner.
