King James Verson and Latin Vulgate

As I remember the Latin Vulgate was used in preparing the King James Bible. Does anyone know which specific verses were influnced by the Vulgate? And, is there a way to use this information apologetically with King James Only adovcates? In a constructive matter that is.
 
One instance is the case of Isaiah 14:12. Here, we see a reference to Lucifer - but only in the King James. Other Bible’s translate it as “morning star.” The term “morning star” is also a name given to Christ in the book of Revelation. Because of this, KJV only advocates often say that all other versions are Satanic, because they make Jesus out to be Satan by replacing Satan’s “name” with one of the names for Jesus (morning star).

What really happened, however, is that the KJV translators made an error. The word “Lucifer” is a latin name for venus, which is the morning star. When the translators saw “Lucifer” in the vulgate, they treated it as a proper name and kept it as it was. So now, all KJV Bibles say “Lucifer.” Because of this, people started saying that Satan was named Lucifer. Then, when other translations corrected the problem, KJV only folks came to the belief that this was some diabolical effort to contaminate modern translations.

The Septuagint translates that with “Heosphoros,” which, like “Lucifer,” means “light-bearer.” In Greek that word is also a reference to the planet Venus.

What I find most interesting is that the KJV Onlyites insist upon the Majority Text (Textus Receptus), which was translated by Erasmus – a Catholic Priest! And the KJV Onlyites tend to be rabidly anti-Catholic!

I have never figured that one out!

Of course, the more radical KJV Onlyites discount the Septuagint as being completely invalid, and some insist that the KJV is divinely inerrent to the extent that it actually corrects the original Hebrew and Greek.

I know what you mean.

My childhood pastor was just such a KJV-O. While I was in the military, I was stationed in Japan (mid-'70s), and I acquired a “smuggler’s” Russian Bible (small, very flexible plastic binding). My return from that tour and visit to the old home place coincided with one of his return visits to my home town. When I showed him the Bible, his first question was, “Is it a King James?”

A place that comes to mind is 1 Corinthians 13, because charity is used by the translators, which is a Latin word used by Jerome for the Greek word ‘agape.’
 
NKJV - 1Ti 3:16 - And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.

NASB - 1Ti 3:16 - By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.

NLT - 1Ti 3:16 - Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith:
Christ appeared in the flesh
and was shown to be righteous by the Spirit.
He was seen by angels
and was announced to the nations.
He was believed on in the world
and was taken up into heaven.

What is the evidence on this? God, Christ, He? Since the NLT is paraphrase, its rendering may not have anything to do with the greek text.
 
John 1:18 (New International Version)

John 1:18 (New American Standard Bible)
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

John 1:18 (The Message)

man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 1:18 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son the One who is at the Father’s side He has revealed Him

John 1:18 (Worldwide English (New Testament))
one has ever seen God. But his only Son is very near to his Father’s heart. He has told us plainly about God.

begotten, Son, God ??? which combo??? does the latin sheed any light on this?
 
From WorldCat, the following dissertation responds to the above two verses, it turns out that the textual evidence is in favor of the modern translations over the King James. I am posting this here incase our muslim friends pull Ehrman’s books out of the hat to prove corruption of scripture.
