I attend the TLM, and after receiving communion, the people that sits in my pew were busy praying, and they sat on the one side, and I on the other side, so I could not enter the pew, so I knelled in the aisle, I did not obstruct anyone as I was last.

SO I want to know if this could be considered as inappropriate? I really did not want to disturb the people in their prayers.

PS: All other pews were filled up, our church are generally packed

Why were they sitting so soon after Holy Communion?
Unless they were elderly or unable to kneel for some other health reason, i reckon you should have made them aware of your “existence”. It might`ve been good manners on their part to stand back and let you get in first. 🤷

You have a right to kneel back where you were before Holy Communion. In the same curcumstances, seeing there was no room anywhere else, i would`ve given the one on the end a gentle tap on the shoulder.

Yes, a gentle tap on the shoulder or a whisper of “Excuse me” would be reasonable. There’s nothing unreasonable with having to move around a little bit during communion.

You have to ask yourself if you were in their place–you would not be bothered by a quiet “excuse me,” would you? I think that would not be a problem to anyone. You have to expect that people need to pass through the pew.

I agree that there would have been nothing wrong with tapping them on the shoulder and scooting past them.

But seeing as you were the last person and you didn’t get in anyone’s way, I don’t see anything wrong with what you did either.

I always take other people in consideration, to scared to anger them 😛 but I guess next time I could tap the, on the shoulder when I am in this situation, thank you all 🙂

i`d be too frightened to whisper in case the Host fell out of my mouth!!! 😊

We are a loving community in church so those people already kneeling after Holy Communion would be delighted to move for you if you asked politely to be excused. They would feel badly if they knew that you had to kneel in the aisle because of them.

This occasionally happens at our parish. What we will typically do is go to the pew behind the one we were sitting in, walk all the way down, then forward in the main aisle to our own pew - this usually means getting in the way of those waiting to receive, but either we disrupt those who are kneeling in our pew, or those standing in queue. 🤷 That way we can get past those who did not pay attention that others needed to get back in after receiving.

I have run into this issue at my parish as well. I tend to try and wait until everyone is back in place before I kneel so that 1) they don’t have to feel awkward by asking me to move if I don’t notice them there, and 2) they don’t trip over the kneeler, LOL! There is absolutely nothing wrong with you kindly asking someone to allow you to go back to your spot to kneel and pray, my friend. And there is nothing wrong with kneeling in the aisle, either, but I’m sorry you had to do that!

I don’t see anything wrong with such a display of humility.
