At your church when the children make their First Holy Communion, are the Knights of Columbus present?

Not officially as a group. The only time they are present as a group is on the first Sunday of the month when they are the readers, EMHCs and ushers.

At my own parish, where I am a Knight, no. However, the host parish for my K of C assembly does have a K of C honor guard at each of its first communion Masses in the spring. Being a very large parish, that involved five separate Masses over three different Saturdays. I did participate in one of the honor guards.

No, there are no Knights of Columbus present for first communion. It’s a small parish so usually there are no more than 4 or 5 children for first communion and we have no Knights of Columbus members in the parish.

Not at my parish, but I am aware of some that do.

More common in my experience (including the parish in which I was raised, but not my present parish) is to have KofC Color Corps for the Confirmation class, not so much for the Confirmandi as to honor the bishop, who is celebrating.

No offense but as someone who is new to the Catholic faith, seeing someone in their full Knights of Columbus regalia with the special hat and sword can be quite bewildering!

For context, we had a service where the priests rededicated themselves to their vows in front of the bishop and we had a lot of Knights of Columbus there.

As I drove up, I saw one and thought, “Well, who is that fellow with the fancy hat and sword and what is he doing?” 😛

Hey! When I was a kid (which I guess would qualify as a sort of new to the Catholic faith) the only time I ever saw the guys with the swords and funny hats was at those Confirmation Masses.

…And now I are one. :bounce: 😃 :bounce:
