I joined the Knights about 15 years ago. It was a busy time in my life and I got “too busy” for the KofC. I went through the 1st degree again about a month ago and really enjoyed it. I’ve been volunteering plenty!! I will be going through the 2nd and 3rd on the 18th of this month, Is there anything I need to do to prepare? Thanks Brothers!

Advancing in the K of C is just practicing the Catholic Faith in a fraternal way. Pray frequently between now and then. Learn more about Catholic doctrine, for instance the Catechism. Put into practice the degree you already made, focusing on loving the persons you see all the time, or those you see only once.

I am a 4th degee Sir Knight. I find it helpful to remind myself of all the degrees I have made, and applying all the lessons in new ways as years go by. It’s not like “been there, done that”, but rather, you are either growing in them, or fading.

I know there is usually lots of things to volunteer for, but don’t overlook applying the lessons in your life. Try to catch a daily Mass when your schedule allows. After you make your degrees, see if there is something you can do for your parish, but don’t let parish and K of C activities take too much time, prioritize your family, and prayer time.

Good luck in your degrees!
God Bless

As far as the degree just be open to the lessons. I just had my 3rd degree yesterday and greatly enjoyed it. I thought all the degrees were wonderful and I am very happy I joined the Knights. Get involved and get to know your brother knights is my best advice. The fraternity of the knights is a wonderful asset, especially when times get hard as they inevitably do for all people from time to time.

My favorite thing about being a knight is being apart of the “strong right arm” of the Church. It is a wonderful thing knowing that when the priest needs something done he can call on you and you will see it done. It really brings back thoughts of the knights of old fighting and striving for the faith.
