Watching the KofC on EWTN this past week opened my eyes to the organization. I’m not sure if it’s what I’m called to do, but I’d like to get in touch with someone. That being said, although I’m in one town, I am a parishoner in the a town 15 miles away. Both have councils. Can someone tell me which one I should go to? Thank you.

Check parish bulletins and newspapers, and see which council is more active. Ask a member about joining. Tell him you’re not sure about it, but you are looking for more information. Their website has a lot of information you may find helpful. www.kofc.org You may also be interested in the book about the founder of the Knights, Father Michael J. McGivney- it’s called “Parish Priest”.

On a personal note- other than receiving the Sacraments, being a Knight has been my favorite part of being Catholic. The Knights of Columbus have made me into who I am today, and I am a better Catholic, a better man, and a better American because of the influence the Knights of Columbus has had on my life.

(This is somewhat related to the topic…I could use some prayers that I find my KofC rosary…for anyone out there who might want to send one up…)

Thank you very much. That is great advice and I really appreciate you sharing your personal experience.

You’re in my prayers to find your rosary!

Last year I began feeling very separated from God, faith, and my parish. It was a real struggle (one that is ongoing). My wife and I decided that in order to strengthen our faith and for especially to overcome this feeling of separation, that we both needed to become active in the church. We already were attending mass on Sunday, but we wanted to do more (we were called to do more). I chose to be a lecturn and a friend of mine informed me that he had just become a Knight. I was intrigued, but was not sure that I wanted to join. I investigated and decided to try. It is a great great experience. Something I would highly recommend. If you have any questions that I can answer (somethings I cannot), please do not hesitate to contact me via private message or this thread.

Good luck and I will pray for you.

Steve

Isaac,

Whichever Council you join, your traveling card (membership card) will entitle you to attend meetings for other Councils. So if you want to participate in both Councils, go ahead.

I’d join the council of the parish that you attend mass at. Another parish may be closer, but you might as well get involved in the parish where you consider yourself a member.

It’s a wonderful organization, and they’ll be more than happy to accept you as a member! The degree process is an intriguing initiation, and I’m sure you’ll find it enlightening. The legacy of Fr. McGivney is alive and well in North America, supporting the Church and defending the family!

Amen to everything the others have said, and please do join and give as much time as you can to the activities of this marvelous Order. I am a Fourth Degree Knight and just finished a year as a Council officer, and everything about the Knights is excellent.
