Knock on the door from LDS missionary

I’ve welcomed LDS Missionaries into my home in Florida and Ohio. In the first meeting, you’ll talk about the Bible and the Book of Mormon (they’ll probably give you a free copy), one of the missionaries offers his testimony, you’ll talk a little more about various things, leading to God having a plan for salvation, and then they offer to return to share lessons on the plan of salvation. This is a series of visits (6 or 9? have to check the booklets they gave me) each dealing with a step in the plan. Over the course of these lessons, you will be invited to their Sunday meeting. Finally you will be encouraged to get baptized into their church.

These guys are always very nice, I’ve never met a Mormon missionary I didn’t like and wouldn’t be happy to call a friend.

Hey again Atticus,

Having nothing to do with what an individual happens to believe, I would certainly think that the entire human experience of a mission would be exactly what you offer, amazing!

If you tell them from the start that you already know something about the Church, and probably not be interested in joining, but would like to hear their message anyway, they would be glad to visit with you and share their message. They get so many rejections that they will be glad to have someone listen to them for a change!

I wouldn’t say so. Perhaps “how it goes” would be a combination of what personality type they are and how their message is received.

I joined the Church as an adult, and was beyond the age of missionary service; but there are plenty of returned missionaries around who can share their experienced with you.

My only problem with the Mormon missionaries is their age and depth of knowledge. On several occasions I have felt like I’m just there for them to practice on. It’s hard to hold their feet to the fire because they remind me of my own kids so I end up pulling my punches. They have all achieved a A+ for politeness. I’ll always welcome them in and invite them back.

Missionaries never knock on my door. They will go to every other house on the block, but not mine. I think I’m on a naughty list or something. Darn the luck.

😃 I don’t know anyone who answers an unknown knock at the door. Everyone I know calls before coming over and so we know they’re coming. Most friends just walk in. If there is an unknown knock at the door, we ignore it. If you know us you had best take out your cell phone and say it’s you. lol.

Last October I was expecting a pizza delivery for a Halloween party. I opened the door, and there were three young missionaries standing there. I bust out laughing. The pizza delivery/Halloween costume mind frame I had going while looking at them was just too much!
