Anyone know anything about Fr. Robert Barron from Mundelein near Chicago? Would you recommend his books or dvds? I’m looking for some new Lenten material and a friend of mine suggested him.

You can find talks given by Father Barron here:

missionchicago.net/fr_barron.htm

So far I have listened to part of the talk about the Eucharist and it sounded good. Now you have piqued my curiosity and I plan on listening to more!

This may be a good site to send to my daughter!

If you have a chance let me know what you think of this site and the talks.

Peace,

Dorothy

Father Barron is AWESOME!

Devour his books and DVD’s.

One of the priests at our parish gave a 3 part talk on Fr. Barron’s DVD, “3 paths to Holiness” and I think most of us bought a copy of the DVD from him ($5.00) so we could take the lessons home with us and review them again.

I highly endorse him without reservation.

Father Barron is absolutely wonderful! I’ve got both of his DVD’s (bought the second one for my pastor, who was thrilled to get it) and several of his books. My pastor actually lent me some of his Barron books, and I loved them and bought my own copies.

He is a great speaker and gives a homily each week, which is played on Relevant Radio. He has a web site, www.wordonfire.com, where each week’s homily is posted. I listen to each of them several times, and I learn something new each time I listen. I’ve heard Father Barron speak in person a couple of times and look forward to hearing him again.

I think you mean www.wordonfire.org

I use DVD segments from his Paths to holiness for faith formation for religion teachers in the 64 grade schools I am responsible for. His contemporary style diminishes nothing of the timeless truths of the Church! I recommend him especially for folks just setting their feet on the path back (or to) the Church.

I have heard a few of his Sunday homilies on a program sponsored by the Archdiocese of Chicago that air on Catholic radio. I like his homilies. They are a good example of carefully prepared sermons that connect the Old Testament and New Testament readings.
