Knowledge of a 'how' vs.'knowing how'?

Specifically in relation to 1 Thessalonians 4:4, what is the difference between knowledge of a how, i.e. what to say or do to acquire a wife, and the actual knowing of the way how?

An example might be someone who was raised in a family with a marriage arranged between his parents; yet is now a citizen of a culture where arranged marriages are no longer made. He knows how to say the English words, “Will you marry me?” but doesn’t know the proper time to say it and hasn’t been told by his parents that they will not be arranging his marriage or for some other reason doesn’t “know the way” to acquire a wife?

Quite interesting.
Now a days marriage is slowly losing it status of an institution and basic process for a healthy society. Instead it is becoming more of a contract to enjoy sex and even has started degenerating into same sex marriages, etc., We as parents have become too materialistic and are busy in today’s world pursuing what this world dictates than what the church dictates and in the whole process have in a way caused degeneration of the institution of marriage and hence I find it difficult even to tell my children of how and when he should ask for a spouse.
