Here in Oregon, the Komen association does indeed give money to Planned Parenthood. That is why I ceased supporting the group.

See - this is why I will continue to hold my position of no support. Until I can know that Komen has cleaned up its act with regard to local branches, I’m not taking the chance.

And the Monsignor even states in his message that some local branches do still give money to PP, though the national level does not do this. Well - I’m sorry, but to me Komen is Komen. They need to fix their issues at all levels before I will take the chance on my money going to kill babies.

I agree. What else can a person do. 🤷

How does one find out if their local Komen chapter donates (either directly or indirectly) to Planned Parenthood?

Here in Oregon, they proudly announced their “partnership” with a local PP clinic to help fund mammograms in a new clinic they are building (in a predominantly Black and Hispanic neighborhood).

And in a neighborhood that does not want it, too.

Go to Plannedparenthood.com and place “komen” in the search bar.

If no reference is made, you could do additional legwork by researching your local Komen’s fiscal reports.

I did this and found that the Komen Foundation in the states below profide funding to Planned Parenthood. This is not an exhaustive list but based soley on the search results Hasikelee suggested.

Idaho
Utah
Nevada
Texas
South Florida
Arizona
Colorado

I know this list is not complete because I could not find Oregon on it.

Oh, another thing that might make it a bit more complicated to research are secondary donations, or money that changes hands more than once. This can happen when an organization doesn’t want to be associated with the donor.
