Hi,

I’m traveling over the holidays with my wife’s family…and we’ll be arriving in Seoul, South Korea on Christmas Morning. I want to know what the mass schedule will be…but I can’t read the Korean webpages!

Here is the webpage for the Cathedral in Seoul:
mdsd.or.kr/

There is an english section with mass times…but is the general mass times from 2008 and many churches change their mass schedule on feast days like this because of more parishioners attending. I can’t tell if this would be the case here…so if anyone can PLEASE help me find a Christmas mass schedule that would be awesome!

The mass doesn’t have to be in English. In fact, it might be cool to attend a Korean mass for the cultural immersion…anything would be ok.

Also, please pray that my family will be willing to attend Christmas mass after a LONG 14 hour flight and jet-lag. 🙂

Thanks for any help!

Hi Garyjohn2,

I can’t claim that I speak Korean, but I can muddle my way through some things. According to my reading of the website, the Sunday Mass schedule is:

Morning: 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 (English is 9 am)
Afternoon/evening: 4, 5, 6, 7 (is called a "Cheongnyeon Mass…not sure what that means), and 9.

If you go to this address, you’ll see the schedule: mdsd.or.kr/html/md/md_time.asp

Since Christmas is on a Sunday, I’m guessing the schedule is the typical Sunday schedule. Also, when I click on what I think is the Christmas schedule, the above page is where I am taken.

If nothing else, I think you can be confident that there will be many Masses, all through the day.

Thank you very much for that info! I appreciate it.
I’m sure there are masses at all times, but the people I’m traveling with love to have very detailed itineraries, so this will likely help with fitting it in.

on other favor, if you are able…do you see any kind of email contact for the church or the diocese there? Not sure if there is one, or what it would look like in Korean.

If not, don’t worry. Thanks again for your help!

Hello again,

There is a link regarding e-mail at the bottom right corner of the page. But, clicking the link just takes you to a little window that tells you that you can’t send an e-mail. They have a twitter account, though, with the link on the right side of the page, near the top.

Have a safe trip.

You might want to check this out, this is where I went to English Mass when in Seoul (I used to travel there frequently on business):

Cool! Yeah I tried finding a webpage for that parish, but I wasn’t able to. Are you able to find a webpage or email contact? I want to make sure the Christmas schedule is the same as the normal schedule. I don’t think I’ll be able to call them when they are awake, do to work and and finals week schedule. Worst case, we’ll have to wing it. 🙂

No idea . . . but I’m a bit envious that you’re going to Korea! My husband spent 2 1/2 years there as a short term missionary.

Our Navy son is being sent to Japan for 2 years. We plan to visit him in Japan and take a side trip to Korea.

Enjoy!!

the website is foir the international parish is:
church.catholic.or.kr/international/

I’ll be there this weekend! The 9am Mass is smaller and more solenm, it is in the small chapel up the hill, attached to the monastery. The 11am Mass is bigger and a bit more…upbeat. It is in the big hall at street level.

Thank you! That webpage doesn’t seem to work though. I mean, the link you gave works, but if you click on “english” nothing correct happens.
