Yeah , you have to watch or hold your purse at all times. We even have to be careful with them in church. We had a wallet/purse thief in the church a while back. Now we all wear them up for communion.

That’s terrible! We did have someone steal the collection one week, during Mass. There was a room behind the alter, I don’t know what it is called, but the alter servers got ready in there, anyway, they would take the collection baskets back there and then proceed with Mass. There is an emergency exit back there. Someone who knew the Mass, snuck in through the door and stole all of the money.

This is why my purse never sits in the basket. It stays with me even while unloading the groceries. I also lock my doors when I get in my car. Way too easy for someone to sneak up and open the door while your trying to start the car. I also try and buy the purses that are made of leather or some such tough material. This makes it harder for the thieves to try and rip the straps.

Years ago my dad had a hitch hiker get into his car while he was sitting at a stop light. Just opened the door and climbed in. He always kept the doors locked after that.

I have not had my identity stolen but I did have a cell phone delivered to a wrong address and ended up with a $300 charge off on my credit. Like the above poster stated it is a real PAIN having to deal with that type of stuff.

my brother’s MIL just had her purse stolen in the grocery. apparently they only took the cash and then somebody “found” the purse with everything else present. but again, she just left it in the kid seat of the cart.

as for the parking lot scenario, the first thing that i put into the back of my car is my purse, then i transfer the bags from the cart to the car.

I’m weird. I don’t own a purse. I just put my stuff in my pocket. My front pocket. I’m very paranoid, and don’t like it in my back pocket. My cousin had his wallet stolen at the airport once. I wouldn’t steal from him. He’s 6’5" and pretty built. His dad is 6’8" and was there with him. See, I would be too afraid of dying to steal from them.

I don’t even carry a purse any more. All I carry are my keys, license and debit card in one pocket, and my cell in the other. We have had this problem at work for several months now (an employee, we still don’t know who it is, has been stealing dr’s wallets, and other staff purses). So, since I found that out, no more purse. But my purse was always tiny (no room in between armpit and purse so people couldn’t even snatch it if they tried) and was always zipped.

Sorry to hear that happened to your wife.

That happened to my grandmother back in the '70s. She put her foot on the gas and blew through the red light, and since the guy was only half in the car he lost his footing and fell out onto the road. Happened before I was even born, and I still always keep my doors locked because of it.
