. . . and here we are, today, finding American Catholic’s rights to conscience just ripe and ready for violations, in this instance, in the education and healthcare fields.

Why?

Because the only punishment Catholic politicians receive is zero.

Excommunication of pro-abortion Catholic politicians----had it happened 10-15 years ago—would have meant we would not have seen this egregious federal effort to negate our conscience rights.

Sometimes climbing in there, and hugging and kissing your political enemy leads to . . . just more smacks in the face. And there are no penalties.

(Hey, Fr. Jenkins, Notre Dame president. . . why don’t you personally give Barry O a call and straighten all this out? After all, you have established “dialogue” with the devil).

What is this post about?

The USCCB came out with a statement earlier this week and last week promoting universal access to healthcare. This plays right into Obama’s hand, as planned. The Obama administration and the USCCB are usually on the same side unfortunately.

The USCCB is head over heels promoting social justice, redistribution, and socialism. The Obama administration is looking to go farther into hard socialism.

Here is a litmus test. Have you heard of the USCCB excommunicating in public a pro-abortion politician? Have they even stopped one from receiving the eucharist? The answer is no.

In this day and age, it is time to start asking the obvious question. Why?

The anwer is, they are working together.

Disclaimer: I am not against bishops. There are some good ones. Chaput is an example, Burk as well. The USCCB is not a great group though.

Because universal healthcare is terrible, and no Catholics support it throughout the world. Is it bad because horror, Democrats support it?😃

honestly, universal healthcare is a good thing. The Church supports it.

But if you’ve ever read USCCB statements, you’ll see they (and the Church as a whole) are for universal healthcare that supports life- unlike obamacare.

and I read on another thread that if the bishops publically excommunicated “Catholic” politicians, it could cause chaos. The politicians excommunicated themselves already by being pro-choice.

I guess I get very confused by how they approach their politics, particularly abortion and gay marriage.

There is absolutely no reason a Catholic politician needs to pay attention to the bishops or to the teachings of the church. There’s no sanction for working evil, even working evil against the church.

It’s toothless.

Threats and saber-rattling by bishops are laughed-at bluffs. You really can’t play in politics without sticks and carrots, and the bishops have none of either.

I wish the Bishops would stand up against pro abortion/pro gay ‘marriage’ politicians and at least deny them Communion.

Here is the problem. The Bishops have a statement on almost every bill that concerns the poor, healthcare, federal budget. They make so many statements, they have made themselves irrelavant.

The Bishops should ennuciate principles. Let the laity put the principles into effect. The Bishops should stop supporting specific pieces of legistlation and really focus on laying out the serious doctrines that need to be followed.

The USCCB is actually doing a good job in the fight for life.

If you guys read this before 11:59 PM EST today, you can help.

Anyway, the Catholic Politicians that are pro-abort already excommunicated themselves. The Bishops don’t have to do anything.

I’m usually not a big fan on refusing the Eucharist to the Pro-abort politicians. They need to decide themselves to follow Christ and go to confession. A Latae Sententiae excommunication is enough to drive themselves to go to Confession. If people are going to get confused, the Bishops should mention the Pro-abort politicians that excommunicated themselves. I believe Archbishop Chaput mentioned something like this. However, if we have to, we must refuse the Eucharist to Pro-abort Politicians.

In case that didn’t make any sense, my view is: In most cases, don’t refuse the Eucharist to Pro-abort Politicians.
