A large-scale explosion has been reported at an Iranian weapons depot in Syria, according to Arabic-language media reports.

The depot, said to be one of the biggest in the country, is located in Mount Azzan near Aleppo and was reportedly being used by Iran’s Lebanese proxy Hezbollah and other Iranian militias in Syria.

Sky News reported that the explosion was likely caused by an aerial strike launched by an unidentified jet, and further said the area had previously been evacuated for fear of an American attack.

Read somewhere it could be Israeli :israel:

I watched the UN Security Council Meeting today and noticed that the Syrian Ambassador was noticeably agitated and nervous. Like he knows that he’s caught in the middle of a massive crisis and there isn’t a darn thing he can do about it.

I don’t like this.

I’ve had a bad feeling for years now that WWIII was looming, and that Syria would be the powder keg from which it erupts, and that Iran and Russia - together eventually with China, and possibly North Korea - will be the new Axis powers.

The new (and old) Allied Powers will mainly be the big NATO countries - the US, the UK, France, Israel, Germany, Spain, South Korea.

“Swing powers” which could potentially go either Allied or Axis - Pakistan, India, Japan.

The neutrals will be the typical neutrals - the low countries, the Scandinavian states, etc.

The death toll of WWIII will exceed the Mongol Conquests, WWI and WWII all combined - I wouldn’t be surprised if WWIII is the first ever global conflict with over 1,000,000,000 casualties.

Ah, but we have CERN and the ability to harvest antimatter. Don’t think for a second that nuclear weapons are the most destructive weapon in our arsenal.

dude, antimatter costs billions of dollars per microgram to create.

It has amazing potential, but is wayyy to expensive

That’s what they say. However, there could be ways of harvesting it that are secret and cheaper. Nevertheless, the US Airforce was researching it several years back…

As a United States Air Force Veteran who had a Secret security clearance, I feel confident in saying the USAF does not possess antimatter technology…

They can barely figure out how to stop F-22 pilots from being gassed by their own aircraft - trust me, they are decades (centuries) away from mastering antimatter technology.

Chances are that It would’ve been well above your pay grade if we did have it. You certainly wouldn’t be discussing it on CAF either. It would probably would involve more than one country working together as it would require tons of money as well as a massive particle accelerator. I would guess that it would fall under Black Budgets.

Either way, we’re gonna find out sooner rather than later.

Theoretical possibilities are not equal to realistic probabilities.

It is theoretically possible for me to become the Pope next week…

The realistic probability of me becoming Pope next week is slim to none.

It is theoretically possible for the US Military to develop antimatter weaponry in the near future.

The realistic probability of the US Military doing so is slim to none.

I live in the real world where realistic probability trumps theoretical possibility every time. The US Military will not have antimatter weaponry anytime this century.

Who can say? We’re not privy to that information.

The Manhattan Project was also quite secret and nuclear weapons were speculation at one point.

Here in Australia we manufacture anti matter…

whatsthematteryoueh!

ISIS cheering over the event !

They’re coming back, thanks to the US, Israel and Turkey

Jim

Yeah… hopefully we have an exit strategy if God forbid we have to go in

ISIS has not vanquished

They gave up territory they held, thanks to the Kurds, whom Turkey is now attacking, but they sit in wait as they’re given the opportunity to return.

Jim

Trump removed support to the Kurds under pressure from Turkey.

Also, the US was only acting as advisors, not leading in combat opperations.

Then of course, the Israeli’s attacked the Syrian bases, who were also fighting against ISIS and other rebel groups.

Thanks to the recent bombing of Syrian bases, ISIS will have a chance to regroup and make their come back.

The bombing by the US, UK and France, will benefit nobody.

Jim

Sigh… people are determined to drag the world into a mass conflict aren’t they…

The “chemical weapons” thing doesn’t make sense. US had said it was ready to pull out. Etc., etc. That’s not the time to dump “chemical weapons” into the mix. That just doesn’t add up. As a prosecutor, the old line is… follow the money (i.e. who gets the benefit). Syria certainly doesn’t get the benefit from that.

Cruciferi: Antimatter doesn’t leave that nice after-glow behind. Toss in some cobalt for some extra goodness in the H-bomb.

What’s truly amazing is the wide differences in the reporting about the missile strikes, and the effectiveness of the ground-based defenses. I’m guessing the truth lies somewhere between the 0% shoot-down claimed by the US and the ~70% shoot-down claimed by Russia/Syria.
