I finally called a priest today regarding a particular promise I regretted making. I explained it to him and he told me that I should have gotten advice before making that promise and I wasn’t bound to it.
The only thing was that I broke that promise, and that’s what I was worried about. I thought the promise was valid at thet time. Is there sin in breaking a promise you considered valid?

I promise- no new threads on this matter after this.

Ok, it’s time to get harsh here:)

Trust your priest and trust your mom.

And how do we know you’ll keep your promise to not post about this topic anymore? I suggest you rethink that one before you feel guilty for breaking it too.

You need to spend time in personal prayer about this issue…it is obviously a big deal right now. We can’t help you. But your priest and your mom can, and have been. Trust them.

lol- I didn’t even realize the connection there with promising not to post anymore. Well, that was a normal promise anyway. The other problems that I’ve had problems with are compulsive and irrational and I tend to break them because I often feel I don’t need to keep them.

But anyway, thank you for replying.

You don’t need to make them, and you don’t need to keep them.

Irrational promises impose no obligation.

Follow priest’s and your mother’s, advice.
