Okay, this may sound silly to some but I have a question concerning past Palms Sunday palms. Last year I brought home my palms (as I do every year) and I placed them behind a wall crucifix above my bed. The weight of the crucifix held the two palms in place against the wall throughout the year. However, when it came time to bring the palms back in for Ash Wednesday, I forgot and they remained on the wall. Now, with Palm Sunday in another 5 days, I am left wondering what I should do with the older palms. Any ideas? Does one simply throw away blessed palms? Somehow, that does not seem right. Thanks in advance and God bless.

Hello,

No, do not throw away blessed palms!

To dispose of them properly, they must be burned or buried. I burn mine in my fireplace. If you bury them, try to put them somewhere where they will hopefully lay undisturbed until they decompose.
