I know it is on the Vatican website, but does anyone know if it is possible to buy a Latin edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church? and if yes, from where?

Yes, I saw it on the shelf of Melbourne’s Central Catholic Bookshop recently. Price is $A 130 at catholicbookshop.com.au/resulttitled.asp?ISBN=9788820924287 .

Another way to buy Latin editions of liturgical books etc. is www.paxbook.com. They have the Latin Catechism. Search for “Catechismus Catholicae Ecclesiae”. Other details:
“1997, Libreria Editrice Vaticana
Hardcover, pp. 964
Language: Latin
ISBN: 88-209-2428-5
Price: US$ 63.00”
The delivery from Europe will be fairly expensive.

I think perhaps here, (link).

That dates 1997 but I thought that it was revised before becomming “official” after that time… but I’m not an expert on the history of the development of the new catechism. I would suggest looking at an english edition and see if it mentions the copyright date of the latin edition it was translated from.

Here is a bilingual one Latin - Italian, (link).

Post if this is what you are actually looking for because I’m kinda interested myself.

I’m actually more interested in getting a Latin Edition of the current Liturgy of the Hours. paxbook.com is the only place I’ve found them and they seem pretty expensive.

Has anyone seen the current LOTH in Latin available anywhere else cheeper?

Thanks for the links, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. It’s good to know about paxbooks.

(The paxbooks Catechismus Catholicae Ecclesiae @ $US 63 is about $A 80, and the postage to Australia is $US55, which is about $A 70; so I think the Melbourne one, plus postage, might come in just a little bit cheaper.)

And the Liturgia Horarum looks good, but I think I’ll leave that until I’m in the seminary, or out of it, God willing.

Thanks.

I have not – Though I keep hoping one might show up on eBay or through a used book site, but I don’t check them religiously (heh). I bought a single volume (II Tempus Quadragesimae. Sacrum Triduum Paschale. Tempus Paschale) a few years ago at what must have been very a favorable exchange rate, because by the time the next season rolled around the price had jumped considerably. 😦

Either that, or I need impose on any of several priests I know who make regular trips to Rome, and at least save on the shipping charge.
