In accordance with Pope Benedict 16th recent Motu-Proprio Summorum Pontificum, which brought back the Catholic Church’s 2,000 year old Latin Mass, there will be the first Latin Mass in nearly 40 years at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland Thursday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.
The priest will be Father Jerome Lebel, FSSP, of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (www.fssp.org) who resides at the Fraternity’s Church in Sacramento (www.sacfssp.com)).

I believe Fr. Lebel is going back to France. He is in Columbus, OH right now. Will he be coming back to the U.S. to offer this Mass?

I could have misunderstood. But, I remember hearing last sunday that Fr. Jerome Lebel was returning to France.

He is a friend of my pastor. I know they were both at EWTN to offer Mass for the sisters late last week. And this morning he offered a Solemn High Mass in Columbus. And from what I understood he would be heading to France within the next week or two.

That just sends chills down my spine…and I mean that in a good way. I cannot imagine what it would be like for the Mass of J23 to be said at my local parish…I am sure it has been at least 40 years there as well.

A parishioner from St. Stephen posted in another thread that Fr. Lebel is being reassigned to France.

You are correct. Here is a quote from the bulletin I got last weekend at St. Stephen.
Message from Fr. Lebel:
When I read the words of Saint Peter, “It is good for us to be here”, at my last Mass here, Aug. 6, the Feast of the Transfiguration, those words were mine, and like Saint Peter, I heard Christ’s words: “Arise and fear not.”
Circumstances are that I have to be in France sooner than expected. The first year of priesthood is crucial, like the first year of a newborn baby. I thank all the parishioners who helped me to become more and more like Christ: i.e., to be occupied with the glory of God and the love of neighbor. Please let us stay in touch.
God Bless.
