I’m not sure (seeing as I didn’t watch the funeral), but Fox News reported that this was President Bush’s , “first LATIN mass”. (being the one for the Holy Father’s funeral).

Is this true or does fox have it wrong? Hope it was right I would love for this occasion to spring back believers to the church and reinvigorate Latin Mass going Catholics.

What they mean is that just like the rest of the out of town big men, he didnt understand a word they were saying (except the 2nd reading).

It was probably not the Tridentine Mass, but rather the Novus Ordo Mass in Latin.

Yes, it was the Novus Ordo in Latin. Beautiful, no?

Oh yeah. I wish they would mix in more Latin. I go to the TLM on Sundays, but I go to a NOM on Wednesdays. They just started doing the Sanctus in Latin. I think Latin is a beatiful language, especially when sung Gregorian Chant style. I actually think EWTN has the perfect balance of English and Latin in their televised Masses.

I’m fortunate in that my parish has the Latin Novus Ordo every Sunday - so, naturally I agree with everything you say about the beauty of Latin- :D.

I found it very touching and … I don’t know… I don’t quite have the words… to hear the same words I hear sung every Sunday sung at the funeral in Rome for our great Pope.

Hello All,

Please let’s not use the term Novus Ordo. It is not an official term, and is in fact a deragatory term used by Ultra-Traditionalists towards the Present Liturgy. Let’s just call it the Mass.😦

I went to a Spanish baptism today. I could understand nothing that was said, yet I knew what was said. I don’t know if I can explain it, but it was a beautiful ceremony even though I did not understand the language spoken and I got a lot out of the baptism.
