Recently I have had an idea to use one of protestant tactics and start leaving Catholic tracts, hoping that maybe someone finds Jesus and His Church this way. However, I found out that it might be illegal in my country (Poland) because of this law:
“Art. 63. § 1. Placing an advertisement, a poster, an appeal, a leaflet, a writing or a drawing in public place unintended for that purpose or exposing it in a different place without a permission of the person in charge is punishable by prison or a fine.”
I don’t think that what I want to do is bad in itself, but it is a law and we are told to obey the government (Romans 13:1-2). So would it be a sin for me to leave tracts in public places like restaurants, toilets and trains? Not many people know this law, so it wouldn’t be a cause for scandal, but if it’s even a venial sin, then I’m going to find another way to do it.

Obedience is I think highly valued by God. By being obedient we tame our tendency toward sin.

If you think we are told to be obedient to the law and what you propose to do is disobedient to the laws of your land then yes, it’s a venial sin.

Why not check this with your priest, it would take seconds for him I’m sure.
