A lawn ornament in the UK has sparked a neighborhood nitpicking battle.

“Recently one of our neighbors put up a frog statuette up for display outside their house,” she wrote. “I find it really creepy … my daughter hates it. She is absolutely terrified of it. Now she refuses to go on walks.”

Ridiculous. Just go in a direction that does not go past that house. No one gets to decide what statue someone else has in their yard, not sure why this woman was complaining publicly.

🙈 🙉 🙊

Maybe she wants it removed like a Confederate general statue? Or maybe a petition to have it removed? Maybe a go fund me donation to get counseling on how to deal with yard ornaments we dislike? Or maybe she wants some kind of law passed outlawing yard ornaments altogether?

🤔

There’s a local radio show that says, “The world cracks up…we chronicle it!” I think this story would fit their standards…

I have a small frog ornament on my front lawn with the inscription “Love grows here.”

I have a giant lion in my yard. See, the good thing about having a big yard, and only one person living next door to me, is no one sees it

I have a pond, and have actual frogs in my yard. So far as I know, I don’t know anyone with ranidaphobia, so we should be fine.

Better be careful just the same. Some folks will go far, far out of their way to be offended.

My sculpted garden turtle had better watch out! He’s been standing guard over one of my flowerbeds for several years. Hopefully, none of our scattered neighbors think he’ll bite them. He’s a handsome turtle, really.

So, now some folks are picking on garden art? On private property, yet!

What next? Will any of us have any rights left, at all, when this nonsense is over, IF it ever ends?

Speaking of which, I found an adorable toad this morning. I had to relocate him away from the grass cutting area. He was rather compliant.

Yes, those little garden creatures are very agreeable, aren’t they? They’ll go wherever you want them to go.

Have you seen the little statues of the mooning elves? Now THERE’S a statement.

When my son was little we took a trip to a lake town. Some of the hotels were little quaint , old hotels. One of them had a funny statue out front, like a tiki I think.

My son was petrified, he would have a panic even if we drove by.

My husband explained to him it was just a statue, and even brought him to see and examine it.

The scary statue turned into my son’s “friend.” He was about 2 at the time.

I have a doormat I bought over 40 years ago that has two frogs and says, “Welcome to our pad”.

I hope it doesn’t terrify small children? It’s never stopped the Trick or Treaters!

These things are happening because we’ve developed culture of dictating to one another instead of respecting freedom.

No kidding!

Search CAF for the phrase “get off my lawn” (quotation marks denoting the whole phrase), and see how often it is said, especially in the Casual Discussion category.

Now get off my lawn!
