Lay scapular upon becoming a religious?

If one were to be invested in a scapular as a layperson, what would become of it if they later became a male or female religious? Would they still be obliged to do whatever that scapular required of them, or would they be released from the obligations?
 
A scapular is a sacramental today, there is a new Catechis about it, published by the Carmelites. I don’t have the link, but someone is sure too.

St John Paull11 wore a scapular.
