The parish priest is allowing me to take responsibility for the leaflet rack and bulletin board. I will have to clear all materials through him, but currently the rack is full of dated government brochures for medicaid and the flu pandemic.

What sort of leaflets would people be likely to pick up? Please post your wish lists for leaflets or questions and materials that are likely to spark interest but inflame anger among the parishioners.

Did you mean to say “likely to spark interest but NOT inflame anger among the parishoners”?

My parish’s leaflet rack contains the Parish Council constitution and the most recent minutes; brochures on Retrovaille and Marriage Encounter, 3 different priestly vocation brochures, “Tips on Being a Good Mother”, “Tips on Being a Good Father” (those put out for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day), “How to Pray the Rosary”, holy cards, info on AngelFood, K of C brochures, the most recent parish newsletter, and much more.

During Advent and Lent there are brochures about how to have a fruitful Advent and Lent. I believe there is a brochure on the Eucharist and Mass.

Call your diocese and see what brochures they offer.

The bulletin board always has a small poster up that has the pictures, names, and home parish name of the men from our diocese in the seminary. I really like that because it shows that men are being called from our diocese, and reminds people to pray for our seminarians and for increase in vocations to the priesthood.

Our Sunday Visitor has a ton of leaflets and brochures that you can buy in bulk that cover a range of topics that are perfect for the church vestibule.

yes I meant not.

seems that our priest and secretary are interested in hitting the hard issues though. I brought a list of leaflets over from OSV and CTS and let them make a wish list.

My parish displays the most current church bulletin; the parish secretary runs it through the enlargement option on the printer.

check out the offerings and package parish rates from Our Sunday Visitor

Thanks! I just ordered some pamphlets from OSV and CTS. My spouse seems to think that audio resources would be a great way to reach people. Would free CD’s be a good idea? Is there a flyer or a pamphlet advertising Catholic Answers radio program and website? I would like to spread the word about Catholic podcasts and iPhone apps using posters on the bulletin board. Any ideas about where to find something like that?

duh, I posted before I read your replies because I did not want to lose the link

CUF also has some great tracts and reprints

The Pope John Paul II Society for Evangelism has great tracts that you can order or even download for free. This is the link:

May God lead you to the best tracts for your parish!
God bless you!

Thanks so much for the great resources everyone! All of them look so good! Father wanted the ones about evangelization, apologetics, and issues like pornography, Islam, annulments, abortion, etc. Our pamphlet rack is full of Medicaid brochures right now so I am pretty excited about being able to contribute something that may help.

As for the bulletin board, we have two things that everyone likes in our parish: every month we have pictures of the new parishoners posted, so we get to see whoo they are and make them feel welcome, and we have a prayer wall. People write their prayer intentions on post-it notes, and then thumbtack them to the prayer wall space on the bulletin board. (Our bulletin board is very large). Every Sunday you will see parishoners reading the prayer wall and praying for the intentions, and people posting their prayer intentions. I have noticed that many of the children and youth use the prayer wall and it is heartwarming to read the prayer intentions of the children written in their childish handwriting, and the teens asking for prayers for their friends in trouble or for their parents and relatives for whatever reason. There are blank post it notes tacked to the BB and pencils on strings for people to use.
