The laity chanted along nicely and respectfully. The church gave out sheets with notes - not tones, so that was helpful. 😃

General question about Catholic mass/service protocol.

Do you think it is helpful to sing out or are we expected to sing/chant softly? That is a general question in terms of singing with the congregation.

I’m always hesitant about being too loud…
 
For those of you near NYC, I just found out that Catherine of Siena church is offering a master chant workshop run by Fr. Columba Kelly, a Benedictine monk, in October.

Master Chant Class

I’m not sure at this point whether he will be using English, Latin or chants in both languages, but it sounds exciting.
