From article:
Long term, one of the primary solutions is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to mitigate global warming. It should be pointed out that logging forests release far more GHG than a wildfire. In places like Oregon, logging is the most significant source of GHG emissions.

That is one of the most inane claims I have ever seen. It’s no surprise it’s an assertion without a shred of supporting evidence.

Think it through

Trees sequester carbon but when we log a forest, it’s not for firewood. The wood is primarily repurposed into housing, furniture etc etc. The carbon remains sequestered and we receive value from the wood. New trees are then planted that sequester more carbon. Even the wood that is used for heat/energy is delivering value.

Eventually the carbon in processed wood returns to the atmosphere, but only after humans have received valuable benefits

A forest fire does nothing but release carbon directly into the atmosphere and humans receive no benefit from the carbon cycle. The larger trees that survived the fire are still harvested but now considered ‘garbage’ trees, they have less value to humans.

I would like to see the global warming people actually put their views into practice for themselves. I would bet that the authors house is primarily made out of wood. Furniture and many other items in their house, made from wood. I would also bet that there are many plastic products in their home that produces green house gas.

If they truly want to follow their own logic, they should be living in mud and stone huts (not brick because that requires fire). No electricity or vehicle, or anything else that produces green house gases. If you want to stop logging, stop using wood. Don’t see that happening.
