How do I learn how to pray the Rosary prayer? Do I capitalize the word rosary? Is it written in a book that I could purchase and memorize? What is the rosary necklace or bracelet? Can I order one or should I get it from the Catholic Church I just started attending? Newby here. Thanks!

Beads close to each other are hail Mary’s, the rest are our Fathers. (Lots more you need to know but it will get you started. )
The routine of doing it daily is the most important first step.

Just remember though, it is not compulsory to pray the rosary everyday or even at all. Don’t start feeling guilty if you decide it’s not for you. The Church has a rich treasury of personal devotions for you to choose from, and that can be any or none.

“Frequently churches will have a rosary for free”-

A rosary prayer book? Or a rosary necklace?

I have seen Rosary leaflets left in the back of church or in the racks of other pamphlets and brochures.

If it’s ok to piggyback on this topic, are there some online resources which show the most basic, perhaps “original” selection of prayers in the Rosary, and perhaps a timeline of when certain other prayers were added (e.g., Salve Regina,; Fatima prayer)?

I know it’s not compulsory but the Rosary is a very powerful and will definitely benefit anyone who prays it daily.

The Rosary is the second most powerful prayer after Holy Mass.
“The weapon of these times.”

rosary necklace?
Many churches will have free rosary beads (they are not necklaces and in most places/cultures, should not be worn); some may also have a handout or pamphlet to guide you through the basic prayers. You can also find these guides online or in many different (usually free) apps.

It’s great to learn and one of the most popular devotions of the Church, but as stated above, it’s not regimented or compulsory. Don’t worry if you don’t “get it right” immediately or feel it isn’t for you. For many, it’s an acquired thing.

The best rosary (Iiho), are those sold by traveling Jerusalem missionaries. Strong, right lengths, made of Jerusalem olive/other wood. Mine has Jerusalem soil in the tri-conector.

I like the guide from the Vatican because it has meditations from Scripture and the CCC before each decade: http://www.vatican.va/special/rosary/documents/misteri_en.html

St. Louis-Marie de Montfort wrote about the Rosary in The Admirable Secret of the Rosary. You can read it on the Company of Mary website. It also has his other works. The Admirable Secret of the Rosary - Writings of Montfort

I don’t know if Rosary needs to be capitalized but I usually do.

A Rosary necklace or bracelet is a Rosary that can be worn as a necklace or bracelet so you have it on you and can pray it more.

Any Rosary you like and will pray is good. Attending a group Rosary recitation is good though because your prayers will be strong together.

It is a great devotion and has been recommended by many Saints and Popes because it is prayer and meditations on the Mysteries of Jesus and Mary. Consistency is good though because there are times when you may not feel like praying it so it is good to get in the habit.

In your opinion.

It doesn’t benefit everyone, and Catholics should not feel guilty if it is “not their thing.”

That is fine. But we are not obligated to pray the Rosary as Catholics.

That’s your opinion fair enough but I think it should be encouraged. Considering its history and Our Lady of Fatima requesting it to be prayed. Calling herself "the Lady of the Rosary. In fact Our Lady said the name most pleasing to her is "Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Not to mention the many many Saints who recommend the Rosary and the power it has.

In your opinion.

…and Catholics should not feel guilty if it is “not their thing.”
I don’t see anyone suggesting otherwise.
But we are not obligated to pray the Rosary as Catholics.
Again, no one is suggesting otherwise and this has already been made clear earlier in the thread. Your need to diminish others testimony is unnecessary.

Mary’s intercession is powerful.

“The Rosary is the ‘weapon’ for these times.” -Saint Padre Pio.

"Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world.” – Blessed Pope Pius IX

“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.” – Saint Francis de Sales

“Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother.” -St. Padre Pio

“Go to the Madonna. Love her! Always say the Rosary. Say it well. Say it as often as you can! Be souls of prayer. Never tire of praying, it is what is essential. Prayer shakes the Heart of God, it obtains necessary graces!” -St. Padre Pio

“The holy Rosary is a powerful weapon. Use it with confidence and you’ll be amazed at the results.” -St. Josemaria Escriva

“Say the Holy Rosary. Blessed be that monotony of Hail Mary’s which purifies the monotony of your sins!” -St. Josemaria Escriva

“For those who use their intelligence and their study as a weapon, the Rosary is most effective. Because that apparently monotonous way of beseeching Our Lady as children do their Mother, can destroy every seed of vainglory and pride.” – St. Josemaria Escriva

“You always leave the Rosary for later, and you end up not saying it at all because you are sleepy. If there is no other time, say it in the street without letting anybody notice it. It will, moreover, help you to have presence of God.” – St. Josemaria Escriva

“The rosary is the book of the blind, where souls see and there enact the greatest drama of love the world has ever known; it is the book of the simple, which initiates them into mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the shadow of this world, and open on the substance of the next. The power of the rosary is beyond description.” – Archbishop Fulton Sheen

“The Rosary is the most excellent form of prayer and the most efficacious means of attaining eternal life. It is the remedy for all our evils, the root of all our blessings. There is no more excellent way of praying.” Pope Leo XIII

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.” -Sister Lucia dos Santos of Fatima.

If you practice no other devotion in the spiritual life, pray the Rosary. Through it, you will obtain all that you need and will vanquish the enemies of your soul. Through it, you will find peace and joy in the trials of life. Conquer the devil—pray the rosary!

Perhaps.

I suppose I could have waited until someone said something again, as always happens, but as the OP seems unfamiliar with the Rosary, I I thought I would give him another option. I don’t see that as diminishing anyone else’s opinion as you are suggesting. I am, after all, giving another opinion.

You are purposely twisting my words if you think that is what I said.
