Even though Embryonic research is over hyped. There is still no way that state and private funds can match the federal funds.

Any ways I remembered that the catholic church in the past, made it illegal to study the body. I remember it had to do with the whole ressurraction thing. I bet they thought God whould have a far simpler time completly restoring from a rotten, pile of bones, or even worse dust, when he could simply creating a new one. Oh come on, god doesn’t need to follow any rules, because he created them. He can give people four arms just because he’s bored one day, and then send them flying to the moon the next.

Doctors in the past had to grave rob in order to study human anatomy, because the ordinary body donation system we have now wasn’t permited by the church. Without those contributions we don’t know where in world we would be now.

Scientists can’t follow what they here from others. They have to follow what they know. What makes embryonic stem cells so appealing is there ability to any cell. They’re ever nasty habit to turn into cancer cells, is something that they are trying to be stopped. With time who knows what we will gain. Remember, I’m not seeing this issue in terms of a Catholic, i’m trying to see the issue as an unbiased person. (tough as it may be)
What once considered bad, is now considered good. I don’t know where the future will lead us, but it won’t be stoped.

You are equating dead bodies & voluntarily donated organs with developing human beings who’s lives would be destroyed. This isn’t organ donation or cadaver donation but murder. The unborn embryos can not give consent.

If scientists follow what they know, then they know that an embryo is a human being. It is not a turtle or hippopotamus or elephant, but a human being. Therefore it deserves the protection due to a human being. The embryo did not get to choose whether he or she wanted to donate their organs, but were killed first and then “harvested”. I can’t believe people don’t see a huge moral difference.

Secondly, Time magazine had an issue dedicated to the advantages of using adult stem cells in February 9, 2009 because they can now program them to behave like pluripotent cells. If you are following the research, it would make sense to go with research that has already produced treatments and has no moral implications. Why pursue something that is morally questionable and not effective.

One day people will look back at these years and be appalled that only a few are speaking out for the weak. Abolitionists were reviled in their time and this is no different. America is being sold a bill of goods and it is frightening that most people aren’t taking the time to hear what the objections are against using the embryonic stem cells.

:DI might not be liked for saying this but, if i have to I will.

First of, while there was a ban on Embryonic stem cell funding, but not the research itself.

While there was no band on Adult stem cell funding…

Get, it! the reason there hasn’t been so much progress on embryonic stem cells is because they weren’t getting the funds. While Adult stem cells were…

But, it can’t be judged right now, because embryonic stem cell research has yet to pick up steam. Not because they cant, but because they hadn’t had the chance the adult stem cell people had till right now.

.
Just let it be fair…

😃
Where to begin? You are SO wrong on everything you are saying about the funding.
Research has been going on with both ESCR and ASCR for many years. They were
both funded by private dollars. The pharmaceutical industry poured money into the
ESCR but they had to have results before they could continue. (Stockholders, you
know.) Therefore, they have been pressuring for federal dollars. So far, ZERO cures.
Private dollars going into ASCR were fewer (pharmaceutical industry not so interested
because there is no $ future for them, they can’t patent what a living body provides.)
YET there have been 60-70 successful treatments using ASCR!!! More are waiting for
funds for the human trials. (Like one for Type 1 diabetes)
I could go on and on, but time does not permit.
Go to stemcellresearch.org
and see for yourself, you’ll find how much you are unwittingly biased.

Like my Biology teacher once said, no essays are allowed unless the info they are based from are from .edu or .gov sites because they are likely to be biased. Human experiment’s have barely started for embryonic stem cells. Wait for the the results. Oh, and here is an article about embryonic stem cells on rats.

ntp.neuroscience.wisc.edu/neuro670/reqreading/transplanted.pdf

Also, the university I go to is very involved into stem cell research. Both Adult, and (rat embryonic stem cells). Why rat embryonic? Because as a new university it was highly dependent on governmental funds. Will they change, because of the uplifting of the ban by obama, I still don’t know. But, chances are I’ll probably enter into the research program (God Willing). Then I’Il be alot more qualified to talk about this. What, part of the program, maybe the tissue engineering capabilities of stem cells. If i’m extremely lucky.👍 But, like they say, beggars cant be choosers… 😦
What type of stem cells I’ll use, I don’t know? So, say a little prayer so I get into the position God want’s me in.

Here is a little research that is being done at the school. A little article but, I’ll see if I can get more.

Here is a question for you, IF a person that wasn’t able to walk, walks because embryonic stem cells, what would you say? I have no problems with what helps, as long as it helps.

Wanna, know my mantra, look at the signiture.

peacefulwarrior,
Have you gone to the website I referenced? Many articles there are from the medical journals,
here and elsewhere. There are probably .gov referenced there because some are congressional hearings.

This particular doctor did mention that adult skin stem cells appeared to be the answer but how easy would it have been for him to simply state, “We(the culture of death) were incorrect in our initial assessment of the benefits of embryonic stem cells”?

Instead he was able to twist it to somehow still put the blame on those who advocated the ban on embryonic stem cells from the get go!
That embryonic stem cells are a flop so far is irrelevant.

Even if embryonic stem cells were an unqualified success, using them would be wrong.

People are pointing to the fact that no cures have been found as proof that embryonic stem cell use is wrong. Using embryonic stem cells is wrong regardless.

I have a disease that could be helped with stem cells, and I don’t advocate using embryonic stem cells.
The ends don’t justify the means.

Trying to justify the evil of abortion by doing something good with the bodies (stem cell research) is a special kind of twisted best buried with the Nazi regime.

Do you have a link to this? Or do you know where I can read this official teaching for myself?

Look up, Pope Boniface VII. I believe he was the first pope to stop body dissection(He Actually banned it). A lot, of my knowledge of the matter came from the History Channel, and history books. But, those books are with my algebra books, In a place far away. Most people were terrified of messing with the church. Look at good old Galileo (poor guy, saying the truth, and look what happened to him). Sorry, i’m a very busy person, and the information seems to be way to scattered. If I get my hands on a comeplete article i’ll link it.

Watching Oprah today with Fox and his doctor. Finally a secularist mentions the problems (with potential for cancer) with embryonic stem cells and how/why adult skin stem cells are better. But of course it is down played and blame is put on those (christians) who fought and argued and were responsible for delaying research.

Excuse me but wasn’t this kind of research (non-embryonic) always allowed and never banned so why or how did a ban on embryonic stem cell research impede this when it was allowed all along?

They (the discipcles of the culture of death) will just never admit defeat!?
No, they never will.

Tip: Don’t get your history about the Catholic church from the History Channel. Some other areas aren’t too great either, but on the Church their record is abysmal at best.

Exactly.
The History Channel’s business is to sell air time. Not to do serious research.
The more sensational the “history” the better.

On fetal stem cell research science is on the side of the Church. There is no dispute that sscientists are experimenting on human life. The dispute is whether taking human life is acceptable for “the greater good” Where do you stand on this?

Boniface was not a Pope and Gallelio was punished for mocking the Pope.

You might want to check the sources of your reasoning.
