For those of you who don’t know, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety about a month ago. 2 weeks ago I started an intensive outpatient program where I go everyday for 3 hours to a psychiatric hospital for therapy and such.
I haven’t gotten used to my medication. It makes me dizzy sometimes and I sometimes have random blurry vision. Nothing to be alarmed about, those are some common side effects. I am sensitive to medication anyway, even daytime cold medicine knocks me out. My doctors told me that I will get used to the effects, it will just take sometime. Meanwhile, I am not driving. I don’t think it would be very safe.
Now, my husband has been WONDERFUL. His command has been lenient and lets him take me to and from my appointments. He has been taking very good care of me. He has been helping out more around the house. He has been so good in reminding me about when to take my medicine. He has been a great comfort when I do have a panic attack. BUT I want my mom. I don’t want to replace my husband with my mom. I’m just a mommy’s girl who so happens to live 8 hours from her and I’m scared and frustrated and so many more emotions and I just want to lay in her lap and be a big baby. He has taken leave for next week and we are going home. YAY! I’m so excited to be able to go home and see my family and get to be with my mom.
Now, am I wrong for feeling this way? For wanting to have the comfort of my mom because I am married?

No, you are not wrong in feeling that way. There was no guarantee you’d get what you wanted, but wanting it in the first place was quite natural. Besides, you don’t want your mom instead of your husband, as if it would have been just fine if he’d have ignored you, had her pick you up and left all of your care up to her. It is not as if you want to live with her forever, either. You just want her help through this. There is nothing wrong with that, per se. Let us remember, too, that your illness is debilitating and could even be life-threatening. This is serious stuff, and you ought to look for whatever help you need to get yourself well.

Your husband will probably welcome the help in supporting you, too. The person to ask, though, is him. If he thinks it is OK, then it is OK. As long as you have his word that he’ll tell you if anything changes, don’t worry yourself about it. Just get well. That is what everyone wants! 👍

I’m not sure I understand what you are saying. I’m reading this…If he says you can’t stay any longer than you must leave.

No, your feelings are your feelings. I guess you must be very close to your mother.
