I am going to take another break (maybe permanent) from this forum. Those of you who have known me for a while know that I do this from time to time, and am usually drawn back quite quickly. I ought to have given up the forum for Lent. Since it’s never too late to repent, I’m certainly not posting here until Easter. I will pray and consider whether I ought to come back at all. I enjoy this forum and my interactions with many of you, but on the whole I don’t think Internet forums are good for me. I become angry and sarcastic, and don’t put enough energy into my real-world duties and into developing dialogue with the people around me.

God bless you all, and I wish you in advance a very joyful Easter!

As I said, Contarini is sometimes elusive.

Do return, Edwin.

Edwin,
I have learned much from you. I am not alone in saying that your voice will be missed around here. You are in my prayers. Please take a break. I hope that you will return, but if you do not, I understand. You will still be in my prayers. Please stay in touch.

I wish you all the best, Edwin, and hope you decide to come back. I enjoy your posts and learn a lot from them.

Edwin, I have appealed to you in the past, and I shall appeal to you once more: Please do not let it be a permanent vacation. Everyone learns much from your perspective. I rarely see anger and/or sarcasm in your posts.

But me, on the other hand…that is a different story…O woe is me.

Forgive this sinner.

Edwin,
I add my voice to those here who gain valuable insight from what you say, and how you say it. Were you to stay away we would all be less knowledgeable for it. That said, may you be blessed in whatever choice you make.

Hi Edwin! Isn’t it true that we always feel like giving up something worthwhile for good when we are tired/burned out? If you feel that way then a break is the best thing for you, but please don’t give up on us or yourself because of frustration or feeling like you aren’t involved enough in the “real” world. People here gain a lot from you and we would sorely miss you if you weren’t to come back. So, do take a break and be refreshed for as long as you need, but then come back to us once you’ve got everything in your life as you need it to be. Easter Blessings to you and yours, your sister in Christ, Della.

I agree with Jon and the others with how much we have all learned here from you, Edwin. I hate to admit to how much information that I learned from you about my own Church history. You have been a blessing to me! Thank you!

May you have a blessed Easter with your family!

Hi Edwin. Like many others, I would be sorry to see you leave the forum.

I hope I won’t be presumptuous in saying this, but perhaps you just need to use the Ignore feature that this forum has? (Or, if you already use it, perhaps you need to use it more “generously”.) In my own case, the Ignore feature is probably the main thing that keeps me from tearing the rest of my hair out. 😊

Edwin,

Enjoy your break and have a Happy Easter. 🙂

I too take lots of breaks, more now than ever before, but its a good place to be when refreshed, a bad one when not so refreshed. Know that you will be missed if you choose to never come back!

Take that much needed break…and come back refreshed and renewed!

Even if only to say hello. 🙂

You shall be missed, that’s for sure.

Apologies to everybody else, but there isn’t anyone else at these forums who so effectively conveys authentic facts about church history in so clear and charitable terms.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about these forums not being good for you. They can be an escape from what we really SHOULD be doing.

But if you can find a way to keep it under control in moderation, be aware that a lot of us get a lot out of your posts. And your tone is just fine. As a bonehead myself, I can testify that sometimes blunt refutation of ignorant statements are necessary and helpful to those being refuted. Especially when said refutations are devastatingly true.
