Does anyone know if this charity (which is under Women’s Cancer Programs) contributes to Planned Parenthood? I did a google search but came up with nothing. I don’t want to participate in this denim day unless I know for sure the money isn’t going to abortions.

I don’t know myself, although I did email them one time and they said that they didn’t support Planned Parenthood. But I can’t be sure, so I didn’t take part in the Denim Day. I’m gonna give my $5 to the Abortion/Breast Cancer Coalition.

as this day has rolled around again, and my child’s school is participating, I wanted to see if anyone has heard anything else on this? If there is any chance they support something like Planned Parenthood, I want to inform the school. Thanks.

I’m personally gonna boycott the day and give my 5 bucks to the Abortion/Breast Cancer Coalition instead, too.

These posts were from various Susan G. Komen websites. As you all may know, Susan G. Komen gives money to Planned Parenthood earmarked for “breats health exams”…however, research shows that such exams fell while abortions increased after monies were received from SGK…a few moments googling planned parenthood and SGK and you will find the connection. Additionally, SGK supports embrionic stem cell research. Do not support Lee National Denim Day.

United for a cause
Chavira and Denton share a passion for the cause: each lost his mother to breast cancer. Chavira’s mother died when he was a teenager while Denton’s mother died just two years ago. While their experiences with the disease are different, the pain breast cancer inflicted on their families is the same. By partnering with Lee Jeans and the Komen Foundation, they hope to spread the important messages of education and early detection so their unfortunate losses might be prevented for future sons and daughters. Additionally, as male spokespeople, Denton and Chavira hope to increase recognition of the important role men play as co-survivors – encouraging breast health and assisting a spouse, partner, mother, sister or friend in their fight against the disease.

Lee National Demin Day, October 7, 2005. Participants for 2004 were more than 1.7 million from over 27,500 companies and organizations, which raised over $8.5 million. Lee National Denim Day is the largest one day fun-raiser for breast cancer in the nation. 2005 marks the 10th anniversary of Lee National Denim Day with a total of $52 million in donations, and 100% of every dollar contributed goes directly to the Komen Foundation.

One of the 2008 recipients of monies raised by Lee Nation Denim Day is “Entertainment Industry Foundation” which supports Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, California Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, University of Southern California, University of Washington, among many others who support and conduct cancer research using embrionic stem cells. Susan G. Komen has also been a major recipient of past proceeds raised by Lee National Denim Day. In fact, they have a “partnership” that is long standing. Of course SGK is a major supporter of Planned Parenthood.

I cannot find information about the second recipient of this year’s fundraiser, National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. If I had more time, undoubtedly I could find problems with them as well.

I didn’t commit to the Lee National Denim Day this year, but I should have told my friends in work the lowdown of it. So next year, I’m gonna make it a point to let everyone know about it.

They have it where I work (State of Maryland). I donated last year (never knew they gave money to anything but cancer research. 🤷 In fact, I never even heard of it before - I thought it was just something they did at work.). I guess I won’t this year, then. They’re also doing the yearly charity donations again (where you can select from over a thousand charities). I’ve heard a few donate to PP and other organizations like it.

Lee national Denim Day supports only cancer research and entities supporting/lobbying for cancer research/breast health, lobbying efforts for such… Problem is, embrionic stem cell research is popular among most cancer researchers. I got my information from Life Decisions International website…

Susan G. Komen is a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and gives money too PP “earmarked” for breast health exams. However, research/annual reports show that with the reciept of SGK monies, breast health exams at PP went down while abortions rose dramatically. This is because SGK money frees up non-earmarked funds which can then be used for abortions and contraceptives.

The founder of SGK served on the board of PP for a long time, and several officials at SGK currently serve on PP boards… so SGK allegiance to PP is no real surprise.

I’m recommending to my children’s principal that we unnoficially participate and give our money to a local catholic hospital’s mobile mammography coach which serves low-income/rural women, or other catholic approved cancer research/breast health efforts.
