That’s really a great story! Thanks for passing it along.
This young man has obviously been raised correctly. He knows that money and fame is fleeting and temporary and when it’s over, then what? Now, he has answered a calling that will last a lifetime and be of great help to others and be of service to God.
As for those dumb comments, what can you say? People are ignorant and it’s really not their fault. Society and American Idol has made fame, money, and notoriety the benchmark for success. Maybe someday these same people will come to understand this decision, much as they did the Arizona Cardinal football players decision to join the Army and was very unfortunately KIA in Afghanistan. He also answered his calling when he easily could have sat it out. (His name escapes me, unfortunatly). And hey, there were some very nice comment in there to! Maybe we should key on those…

yeah there are good comments. those rude comments mean that the man is really following God’s will. the world hates God and those who follow God.

The player I was referring to was Pat Tillman.
He was a rising star in the NFL and had just landed a big contract when he gave it all up and joined the Army to become a Ranger after the Sept. 11th attacks. He enlisted with his brother, who also turned down a baseball contract to enlist. Pat was killed in action in
Afghanistan by friendly-fire.
I just wanted to set the record straight and make sure we don’t forget men like this. I’m sorry I forgot…

What a great story!
There was an MLS soccer player that left to pursue the priesthood last year & countless others just as brave, who never get the publicity.
Pray for him & all those discerning the priesthood, as well as all our current priests & religious!!!
