Lent is not only about food as we all know. I suggest, to all who have need and trouble increasing their prayers during Lent.
Before the sleep, make sure you are alone (if your family is not the praying type), use the candle or lamp for your light source. take a pillow and kneel on it if you cant stand. If you have icon, put it before yourself, use cross if you don’t have icon.
Use this 1 hour Romanian Orthodox chant to holy Theotokos youtube.com/watch?v=filVQv-ZReU&list=RDC58Ad-SNz8M&index=8 It is very spiritual and moving chant.
Read prayers from your prayer books, use your own prayers, literally talk with God, like when you talk with a priest when you confess, whisper the prayers, think of your sins and try repenting (crying). Think of how God loves you so much, that helps the crying. Crying is very important of every true repentance. Make prostrations when you are moved by the need to repent or thank the Lord. Don’t forget to pray for the passed away relatives and friends.

If you get tired of reading prayers or when you are done crying, just use rosary or prayer rope and close your eyes and repeat Jesus Prayer while listening to the chant.

Try it, be careful, it can be addictive. 👍

Some other 1 hour chants from the Romanian Orthodox Church, their Church has mastered creating most beautiful akatists to the saints and God.

Be especially vigilant on Wednesdays and Fridays, in those 2 days we sadly remember that Christ was betrayed and crucified.
When you are done, when that 1 hour chant finishes, go to bed, try talking a bit more with God before falling to sleep. Thank God for every good you remember that happened to you. Don’t let it be technical, don’t focus on remembering things, focus on how much God loves you.
If you lose motivation and you are not able to restore it during that hour of praying, don’t force yourself, It doesn’t have to last 1 hour.
Of course, you wont be motivated or allowed to do this every day, we are not monks, but try it at least a night before the Eucharist.

I would also like to hear about your praying methods.
