For Lent I have given up going on websites like Engadget and Gizmodo (gadget and technology websites) and try to avoid seeing any daily technology or gadget related news because it is a bit of a hobby of mine. Would it be okay to catch up on all the news I missed after Lent? I am thinking of getting a subscription of a technology magazine and read the magazines after Lent; would this be okay? Thanks.

I do not see a problem with that. Why would you think there would be?

Well I thought that the news I have missed should not be read because I thought it might defeat the purpose of giving up something for Lent.

I think catching up on the news you missed would be a lovely way to add joy to the Easter season. Perhaps you could offer God the enjoyment of it, just as you are now offering your deprivation.
