According to the 1962 rubrics, do you fast on St. Joseph’s feast day? I know my FSSP calendar says yes, but it could be a typo. I thought I remember it being exempt from fasting.

I attend an FSSP parish (St. Joseph’s) in Tacoma, WA. Today’s Mass was the Feast of St. Joseph and it included white vestments, Gloria, organ was back, etc. After Mass we celebrated with a breakfast cooked by the men’s club. It included bacon, sausage, two or three different types of eggs, potatoes, hash browns, rolls and juice. Not exactly Lent. But tomorrow is Palm Sunday so its back to violet.

BTW St. Joseph is our Patron Saint so I believe that is why we could celebrate this way. 🙂

Yes, you still fast on first class feasts during Lent according to the traditional discipline.

But the “feeling” of the day is still much more joyful than a regular day of Lent. I know the traditional Italian table for the feast of St. Joseph was meatless but still very grand.
