Wondering how everyone’s lent is going. We’re over halfway through.
Is anyone actively engaging in any Lenten programs, either at the parish level or online?
Is it making a difference? Would you recommend them?

I am participating in a small group book program called “Walk inHer Sandals: Experiencing Christ’s Passion through the Eyes of Women” produced by Women In the New Evangelization. It has been very good so far. It has a book, journal, and social media tie-ins.

Social media resources I am following, enjoying, and sharing are:

REDEEMED ONLINE #SHAREJESUS
I follow via Facebook, but also reeceive the materials thru email. The inspirational videos and memes are accessible and shareable thru facebook, twitter, pinterest as well.

Dynamic Catholic’s Best Lent Ever by Matthew Kelly. Also available from various digital platforms (email, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+)

Fr. Mike Schmidt’s Bulldog Catholic homilies are available from the UMD Newman website. His Lenten series is ‘Wholehearted’ and is tied into Fr. Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Merciful Love book which is based on St. Therese’s Little Way.

I’m having a hard Lent this year, not sure why.

Two good books I’ve been reading and have been out for awhile are The Gargoyle Code and Slubgrip instructs by Fr. Dwight .Longnecker. They are both written in the style of C.S.Lewis the Screwtape Letters and you can either read the whole book or read one for each day. That and a couple of others by Bishop Sheen (yes I’m showing my age) are my standbys.

Would be interested to see how it’s going with everyone else this year. Two weeks to go and I’m praying I’ll make it ok till the end.
