Hey, let’s all get together for a potluck (or hot dish supper, or covered dish supper, depending on where you live!).
What are you bringing?
I would bring the Midwestern Speciality–7 layer salad:
Layer chopped (or torn) iceberg lettuce on the bottom
Then layer:
Chopped onions
Chopped Green Pepper
One bag frozen peas–do not thaw–spread over lettuce, onion, pepper
Cover with MIRACLE WHIP (not mayo!). Cover it entirely, like frosting a cake.
Sprinkle with shredded cheddar, 2 cups
Right before serving, add the last layer–about half a cup of bacon bits (real are better than Bacos)
YUMMY!
My daughter had a hard time in San Diego, California, finding Miracle Whip in the grocery stores–the clerks didn’t know what it was.
When she finally found it at a store and made the 7 layer salad for a potluck, everyone raved over it and wondered what it was. She told them, “This is typical Midwestern food!”
They loved it!
