I am personally against photos of mutilated babies–that is too harsh and too likely to be seen by small children, and as a mother, I don’t like it when I have to explain something before my husband and I decide is the right time. So my first suggestion is to use the lovely photos we now have of babies at an early gestational age. (I also think that pro-life teachers should show these in schools when academically appropriate, if it’s possible.)

Of course I think prayer is great, maybe include the Divine Mercy chaplet, sung.

I unfortunately live too far away from any place appropriate to protest at, so don’t have practical experience, but I know some people who know some people who protest and thought I could maybe join them from time to time.

So please post ideas, suggestions, and/or stories of what’s worked!

The Knights of Columbus at my parish are raising money for the purchase of a 3D ultrasound machine for the local crisis pregnancy center. They are very expensive but well worth it, I think.

Form a group of people, families in your parish, that are willing to house, shelter, feed, and care for a woman with an unexpected or high risk pregnancy, as well as the child after it is born for at least 1 year or 2 years.

This means help them find a doctor, an apartment that is safe, provide food, counseling and medications, baby supplies, and tuition for education of the mother so she can get a certificate or 2 year degree and become self sufficient.

Make a list of families willing to adopt a child from the community that is born to a young mother or within a family that feels they can’t keep the child. (Private adoption)
