1John 2:12-17
Psalm 95
Luke 2:36-40
In the first reading John tells us that the love of the Father
cannot be in any man who loves the world. There are so
many things I love about the world, it’s a great big present
from God! But these things, he says, can never come from
the Father: the sensual body, the lustful eye, and pride in
possessions. I don’t know what to think about these 3 things,
but I’m sure I have pride in some of my possessions, and I
know I love how my pillow feels at night. I truly love that feeling.
Luke talks about Anna, who served God night and day with fasting and prayer. I wonder how she served God in her sleep?
What would her days be like for probably 60 years? Did she
spend all her time praying? Who supported her with her meager food?
