  • I guess we shouldn’t be surprised…
But I admit I was taken aback when “Brokeback Mountain,”
Hollywood’s latest attempt to push the homosexual agenda
on America, was nominated for best picture of the year
and several other top awards.

Hollywood is telling us that the film is a “beautiful love
story.” But the fact is, “Brokeback Mountain” is
homosexual propaganda. In fact, they have taken one
of the strongest symbols of the American male –
the cowboy – and turned it into a platform for
mainstream homosexuality.

So what was I to do? As a Christian and a fan of movies,
I was outraged–especially considering that a movie like
“The Chronicles of Narnia” – a huge box office smash –
was all but shoved aside by the Academy.

I decided to take action.

I sat down at my computer and wrote a letter to the President
of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Sid Ganis,
expressing my outrage over the Academy’s selection of
“Brokeback Mountain” for best picture and several other
award nominations – while ignoring movies like “The
Chronicles of Narnia.” Click here to read the letter:

At first, I was merely going to print it and mail it. But
then I got to thinking, “How many other Christians are sick
and tired of Hollywood pushing its agenda on our nation?”

That’s when I decided I would make my letter available
for Center team members to co-sign with me.

We can’t give Hollywood a free pass
as it pushes the homosexual agenda on our nation while
casting Christian-themed films aside.

That is why I am taking action, and why I am encouraging
you to join with me by clicking here:

Get over it. We’re gay and we’re seriously not stopping until gay becomes normal. You may not understand it because you’re straight, but we have to live through so much **** everyday.A person in my school’s GSA has gotten death threats because of his sexual preference.

“Brokeback Mountain” is a love story and weather you want to see it as such is clearly your choice. As you can see, the Academy just chose to honor the best picture of the year.

If you havent seen it yet, go see “Brokeback Mountain” the most beautiful movie of the year.

Well at least you are willing to admit that having homosexual tendencies is not normal.

I sincerely hope you’re not expecting Christ’s Church to suddenly say homosexual sex is ok and start perfoming gay marriages!

Thats awful that your friend has received death threats. The Church is fairly clear on this matter:

Homosexuals are always to be “accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s cross the difficulties that they may encounter from their condition.Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection” (CCC 2357– 2359).

Ezra, you have obviously not studied the Church teaching on homosexuality, and I hope and pray that you do.

Never saw it, never want to. I have a natural (pun intended) prejudice against homosexuals. :nope:

Good letter and pithy. I could see this coming a mile away too. I will never see this movie. When people talk about this movie, I change the the name to something more appropriate. You can almost figure it out.

This is such an American thing to do 😛 - not that that is a particularly bad thing - note, not an attack. 🙂

I’ve done something similar to this. Protest. Not violently obviously. Jesus would never allow it. Didn’t he say “Father thy will be done.”

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

It was actually a very good movie. Not that that matters to you.

Excuse me, I have to boycott whichever Christian movie is made next. Hollywood making anything that portrays anyone’s viewpoint in a positive light offends me. Remember, I have the right.

I almost put a little emoticon like I’m supposed to for sarcasm, but then I realized I was totally serious. I think threads like this do it to me.

Give me a break. Have any of you even seen this movie to make your judgments? People are gay. Get over it. There are worse issues in the world, like that whole little ‘war’ thing going on overseas? Come on people, we’re better than this. Start thinking.

**I think there must be some clarification here. Writing to the president of the academy will not really get you anywhere. He has nothing to do with the nominations or the elections. Nor does anyone that works for him.

For Best Picture voting, the nominations are selected by the producers of films (since they get the awards), Best Director voting, the selection is by film directors. And it goes on and on. Then the top 5 vote getters are selected. Then the ballots are sent out to all who are eligible to vote (members of the Screen Actor’s Guild, Director’s Guild…)

If you would like send your letter to those who actually nominate the films, actors, etc., send a copy to the Director’s Guild, the Screen Actor’s Guild and such. Or even to the industry paper Variety.**

Christianity in a postive light offends you? I only ask because of your user name.

Actually, Best Picture nominations are selected by every member of the Academy. Each individual Academy branch (directors’, actors’, editors’ etc.) selects the nominees for their category. Then all members of the Academy pick the winners.
