Liam Neeson has narrated a pro-abortion video for Amnesty International that claims the Catholic Church is the sinister force behind Ireland’s eighth constitutional amendment, which protects the unborn child from abortion.

Strongly Boycott Liam Neeson over shockingly offensive pro-abortion ad (Sign the petition)

He just has not been the same since his wife’s horrible death. We should pray for him. :signofcross:

I watched the video–three times. And nowhere does Neeson in his narration “claim the Catholic Church is the sinister force behind Ireland’s eighth constitutional amendment” as you say.

(Plus, isn’t this ad from a year ago?)

.
I recall a thread about Liam Neeson and a pro-abortion video also.

I checked the date of this thread thinking it was an old thread.

You did not see the blantantly obvious attack on the church? He may have not come out and said the church but 100% directed at the church. The whole point of the ad is that the Church–the Catholic Church–is outdated and abandoned by the people and therefore its evil, outdated influence on the Constitution must be removed.

Neeson states in the ad:
“A ghost haunts Ireland [that would be the Catholic Church]. A cruel ghost of the last century still bound to the land. It blindly brings suffering, even death, to the women whose lives it touches. Feared by politicians, this is a ghost of paper and ink. A spirit that lives in a constitution written for a different time. It is the shadow of the country we’d hoped we’d left behind. Ireland doesn’t have to be chained to its past. It’s time to lay this ghost to rest. …Repeal the Eighth.

He couldn’t make it more obvious if he tried. The art that really hit a nerve with me is “it’s time to lay the ghost to rest” what are you wanting to do Mr Neeson? Destroy the church completely??

Uh? He’s talking about the 8th amendment. Paper and ink. From the last century (the 80’s). Living in the constitution.

Talk about paranoia…

did you read the links I posted? RC Church ran Ireland. Created the system. Yes created much of the constitution.

Therese you are of course correct. BUT I think also you are not assimilating the extnt to which the church created and governed Ireland and most of all, the scale and extent of the abuse it carried out here. . The huge secular powers it abrogated . This is certainly true where reproduction is concerned; please read the links I posted, All the events and problems there were created and run by the Church here.

It all went too far.And that is what the Church is paying for now.

I chat with many here;the attitude to the Church is changing and hardening, Whereas folk used to shrug, now when they speak of eg the Mercy Sisters, there is nothing but the evil they did.

So yes time to "lay the ghost to rest " But not by any acts of destruction. IN time maybe the pendulum will swing back to a more reasonable place.

By the way, apart from his recent tragic loss, does anyone know this man’s past? I asl as Colm O’Gorman, a vociferous anti church UN voice, was badly abused by church personnel as a child. Hence his huge and “unreasonable” anger. You damage a young tree and it grows up damaged…

What does it matter whether or not he was lambasting the Church? He’s shilling for an abortion agenda in Ireland. The man lost any sense of coherence when he lost his wife. That is understandable, but doesn’t give him license to say any stupid thing that pops into his head.

I agree and understand what you have said but what is forgotten is the church itself is holy and belongs to Jesus His bride. I cannot turn my back on Jesus because of what happened…yes the evils that happened in this country were despicable and those will be punished by God.
