I was married in a Catholic Church 27 years ago my husband left the marital home after having an affair after 7 years he managed to obtain a divorce with out my collaboration can I still take communion as I am now divorced I still feel catholic and married.

THis is what the priest told me:

If you are in the state of grace and you did nothing wrong, why can’t you take communion?

If your marriage has not yet been annulled , you should avoid entering into a relationship so you can receive communion.

How about talking to a priest regarding this.

Based on what you said, you should still be able to receive communion.

You might want to look into starting the annulment process now (if there is no going back to your husband). You never know how long the process will take and you never know if you will meet someone new. When you are ready, it might be best to take care of this now instead of dealing with it when you are trying to get re-married.

With this said, I’m sorry for your situation and I will pray for you and your family.

God Bless.

Yes, you should still be able to receive. And you might want to give some consideration to applying for annulment. If the marriage is determined to be valid then you are still married and will have to lead a chaste life. If the marriage is determined to be invalid, you would be free to date and possibly remarry. Start the process as soon as possible so that you have an answer as soon as possible. Annulments can take anywhere from a few months to a few years depending on the diocese. I know it seems unimaginable now, but you will heal and you may meet a nice man that you are interested in. Best to know where you stand before that happens.

My friend, I am in a similar situation, and yes as long as we maintain a celibate lifestyle we can receive the Most Blessed Sacrament. I will be honest with you, this life is not easy. The physical aspect is challenging but the loneliness and feelings of betrayal are also a struggle to reconcile. But with God’s help we will persevere. Please talk to your priest and I will pray for you. Cling tightly to Christ and His Blessed Mother.
