IF I were to return to the CC, can you give me recommendations for a good Bible that compares to the Protestant Life Application Study Bible? I have the NAB but never realized how much it’s lacking in notes and things to study until I got ly LASB.
Recommendations please?

I second the Didache Bible. The footnotes that tie it to the Catechism are great!

I have that one but unless I didn’t take enough time to familiarize myself with it, the notes were all from the CCC as opposed to
being a study Bible.

So far the Little Rock Study Bible is the one I liked the most.

I got cheap, hardcover editions of NABRE (for critical notes) and the Catholic Prayer Bible (for reflections; it uses NRSV-CE) while waiting for the new NABRE (which should be approved for study, catechism, and liturgy) and any Catholic edition of the NRSV-UE.

I can deal with most of the translation in the NABRE, but I really dislike the notes. It seems like it starts out each book by saying that the author isn’t who it claims.

I read somewhere that the NABRE critical notes have to be included. If so, then you will have to consider the Catholic Prayer Bible because it uses the most recent translation (NRSV-CE) and has some information notes plus points for prayer and reflection. I prefer that and more, which is why I also use NABRE.

One interesting alternative is the Daily Roman Missal, which contains daily readings for Mass plus prayers (including those used for Mass), memorials, excerpts from the Catechism for Sunday Mass, and more.
