I think the Psalm is the link.
Ps 3:2-7
Many are saying of me, there is no help for him in God.
I imagine the people would have said this about Zacchae’us. Zacchae’us climbed a tree to see Jesus so I suspect he had a yearning or emptiness inside that he was looking to fill.
I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy hill.
Eleazar on the other hand, had been faithful to God all his life and now he is being asked to violate the law of God.
I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! For thou dost smite all my enemies on the cheek, thou dost break the teeth of the wicked.
He is being counselled to just pretend to eat the pork, but is prepared to die rather than lead others astray.

When Zacchae’us repented, he said: “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold.”

Both of them surrendered earthly power, riches or glory to follow God’s Law.
