Joining with the worldwide Church in prayer is a great way to feel connected to both God and to the rest of humanity in times of crisis. So many of my colleagues are complaining about feeling isolated, and my workplace actually sent out “mindfulness meditations” to all their employees, suggesting it as a way to feel connected and cope with anxiety from the virus crisis. I have to stop myself from saying, “If people would just put their faith in God and join with his Church, then they wouldn’t feel isolated and wouldn’t need a mindfulness meditation.” I wanted to respond to the “mindfulness meditation” with an e-mail saying, “I don’t need this, I pray daily, you should try it.” But of course, I didn’t.
